Why learn to sail in Cannes?

Cannes is best known for its film festival and glamorous promenade. But for anyone who loves the sea, it’s something entirely different: one of the finest sailing grounds in the Mediterranean. The Bay of Cannes offers reliable wind, warm water, and a coastline that inspires every nautical mile.
Sailing schools exist all over Europe. So why do people fly specifically to the French Riviera to learn? Because the combination of conditions, culture and coastline here is genuinely unmatched. You don’t just take a course — you take a course in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
DID YOU KNOW? Cannes enjoys over 300 days of sunshine a year — and that’s not just good for your tan. It means year-round sailing, predictable conditions, and evenings that make every hard gybe worth it.

• Consistent Mistral and Tramontane winds keep the bay active — you’ll sail in real conditions from day one, not a flat lake with a breeze
• Year-round sailing season — no off-season, no waiting for summer, no weather excuses
• Lerins Islands, Monaco, Italy and Corsica all reachable from your training ground — advanced courses don’t stay local
• International airport and central marina — most students arrive on Friday and are on the water by Saturday morning
• The best sailing holiday combination — the Croisette, Michelin-starred restaurants and the hills of Grasse fill your evenings without any effort

Our sailing school in Cannes

Our yacht school was founded by sailors who wanted to share one thing: the feeling of complete freedom under full sail on the Mediterranean. Every course is built around real sea time — no death by PowerPoint, no simulators. You’re at the helm from day one.
We teach in English and French, which makes us the natural choice for international students and expatriates living on the Cote d’Azur. Our instructors are fluent, patient, and used to working with people from all backgrounds. We’ve trained sailors from over 30 countries since 2015.
We keep groups small — a maximum of four students per yacht. This isn’t a marketing line. It’s the reason our students leave with real skills instead of the memory of watching someone else sail.

How our sailing courses work

No jargon, no confusion. Here’s what happens from your first message to your final sail.
1. Tell us where you’re starting from — Zero experience or years in the cockpit — a quick message or 10-minute call is all we need to match you to the right course.
2. We suggest the perfect course and dates — Based on your goals, experience and schedule. No upselling — if a 2-day intro is right for you, that’s exactly what we’ll say.
3. You arrive in Cannes — we handle the rest — Meet at the marina, meet your yacht, meet your group. We provide all the gear. You bring curiosity and sunscreen.
4. Learn by doing — every single day — Every concept is taught at sea, immediately applied, reinforced by repetition. You’ll be surprised how much you absorb.
5. Leave with a certificate — and a passion — Most students are already planning their next sailing trip before they leave. Your qualification opens doors worldwide.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need any experience to join a sailing course in Cannes?
Not at all. Our beginner sailing courses in Cannes start from absolute zero. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to get a little salty. The small group format means you never feel left behind.

What certificate will I receive?
Depending on the course, you can receive an ISSA internationally recognised qualification — valid for chartering yachts from Croatia to the Caribbean. We’ll advise which certification makes most sense for your goals.

How many students are in each group?
Maximum four per yacht. We keep groups this small so everyone gets real time at the helm — not a day spent watching from the deck while someone else steers.

Can I combine a sailing course with a holiday in Cannes?
Absolutely — many of our students do exactly that. Morning on the water, afternoon on the Croisette. We’re happy to suggest accommodation options. The French Riviera doesn’t disappoint on land either.

When is the best time to take a sailing course in Cannes?
There is no bad time. Cannes has over 300 sunny days a year. Spring and autumn offer ideal sailing winds. Summer is warm and vibrant. Winter is quiet, uncrowded, and often our students’ favourite season to learn.

Founded by professional sailors with extensive experience on the Mediterranean — instructors who know these waters intimately, where the Mistral picks up and where the best anchorages hide.

We are a certified sailing school offering ISSA courses. Certification from a recognised body isn’t just a piece of paper — it’s the difference between chartering a yacht independently anywhere in the world, or having to rely on a skipper. Our students leave qualified.
